My arms felt like limp spaghetti in the pool. I was just happy to get through the two prescribed repeats and by the end of it all it was over 4000 yards. The bus driver was so slow we were passed by the bus that runs the same route but left 10 minutes after us. It was a bit of a bummer to watch that bus ahead of us as we inched along in traffic. Only minimal hemming needed for the bridesmaid dress, but still hemming required. And that zipper! A little wax helps, but it's still horrendous.
Yesterday the scale surprised us both. Today, we're starting to do better. I walked to the bus in the evening. We didn't eat too much. Dinner was lean and tasty and fresh from the garden. Sit-ups were done.
Father's Day breakfast took longer than expected to cook, but was a success. Potatoes o'brien, mushroom omelets, and strawberry, banana, blueberry smoothies. We visited the old house - so much the same and so much different. The drive home was mostly smooth sailing, but an accident added an extra hour. We munched on blueberry pancakes for dinner. We discovered the summer Norway ebook was out just in time.
We filled the day with a lazy walk to the school. It got hot while we played four square with a found red rubber ball. Then the sun played peekaboo the rest of the day. There was a style show of various outfits for the various events surrounding the wedding. I practiced driving Mom's car to get a feel for driving a manual. Practice for Norway. Surprisingly, there were no tears and only minimal yelling. It took going into reverse for me to really get the feel for it. The day ended with a rousing game of Buzz Word. Those from outside the US were at a severe disadvantage.
I woke up early this morning, at the usual time with our usual morning routine. But Shawna and Adrian were a sleep in the second bedroom. A few hours later we were headed north. A few hours later we were home. A nap was needed and taken. We laughed about teapots {it's still awesome!} and a pair of pears.
The anticipation all day kept me giddy. It made focusing on work incredibly challenging. It had been two years. I was excited when the flight was estimated to land early, but then getting through customs and waiting on luggage took longer than anticipated. So I circled. We waved like mad when we saw each other. No airport pictures taken, since the authorities {lady wearing a bicycle helmet in the three wheeled vehicle with the flashing lights} were moving people along.
I'm so glad you're here, I said as I turned in for the night.
